Edited by ABA's primary fly tier James Capes and ABA's web master Tom Kerese, the ABA Fly Fishing Journal is the latest addition to the site. Featuring reports from our guided fly trips to new products in the ABA Fly Shop, our Blog also covers a wide variety of fishing topics as well as any updates to www.autumnbrookangling.com.

Winter trout fishing in New Jersey can be excellent! Many fishermen give up their pursuit of trout as soon as November rolls around. Rest assured, trout can be readily taken all twelve months of the year. Those who do venture out during the winter months are often rewarded with solitude, natural beauty, and plenty of un-pressured trout. To have success, all one needs is a sound winter approach to presentation combined with an appropriate fly selection.

The New Jersey Winter Trout Selection is comprised of five flies we would not want to be without during the winter season. (November thru March) Trout do continue to actively feed throughout the winter and these five patterns do a great job of imitating the most common food sources trout see during the winter in all of our New Jersey  freestone streams.

As with our other selections, some of these patterns are our own design, some are standards. All patterns are producers and in most cases have been modified over the years (hook style, custom colors) for the best possible performance.

Winter fishing can be some of the most productive, peaceful (no crowds) and beautiful fishing of the year. Give it a shot, and stay warm!
